Setting up new tank with old tank LR that had somewhat high PO readings. I have been cleaning up all LR to reuse but when recuring my rock I still get high PO readings in the water. Is Chemmicals a better way to go. Been doing lots of water changes. I'm just trying to avoid buy new rock.

Was this limestone rock or pacific live rock? Some limestone rocks (mined) leach phosphate. If the rock just soaked up phosphate I wonder if it's just something in the surface of the rock that will go away once you re-cycle the rock.

did you take the rock out of water and dry it out? Or did you just keep it in water so it would stay live?

If you took it out, maybe you could boil it? I've heard of people doing this so they can re-use the stuff.

I would ask in the chem forums. I dont believe Po4 evaporates.
