The tank I am getting is a 120X30X30 Peninsula.
What is the best wood to construct the stand out of to handle the weight. 2X8? 4X4?
I already have a carpenter coming to reinforce the floor.
Also is 30" Wide enough for a peninsula to be sturdy from rocking?

The best wood for a stand is STEEL!!!

Some of the places I am looking to buy a tank from do have steel stands available. SOme of the others are saying wood works just as well.
That does look like a nice steel stand in the pictures on that thread but what makes the steel so much better? Is wood really that much of a problem with larger tanks?

No, wood is just fine. I used steel because all equipment will be in the stand, and steel takes up substantially less space than wood. Lots of folks have wood stands on large tanks. Check the beginning of some of the threads and look at the stands.

I used concrete blocks and steel I beams. Then I tiled it over to match the floor.
