So, I've been very interrested in making my own live rock. I had one question: After cure time, is there anything that you can do to fast-track the bacteria to grow. I was thinking of putting my DIY rock in a tub w/ already established live rock, and have flow through the rocks, but getting that color, all the live organisms, ect to host on the home made rock! Is there anything/ or product that will help this process???

Time......

All you can do is wait. If you want color and organisms, you're going to have to pay for live rock from a LFS. There isn't anything that will speed it up.

you have a river nearby? Stick the pieces in that.

Check this out! I actually used this stuff a while back. It's cheap and I know it doesn't hurt anything.

Sticking them in the river helps the cure time in regards to PH, but not the cure time in regards to bacteria growth. You could try bacteria cultures like "right now" and biospira. Dont know if it will work or not...

hm, perhaps when i do my DIY rocks I will (after cure) do an experiment. I was planing on having 5lbs of DIY/2lbs established live rock in a tub with current and inverts. So no i'll just do two tubs one with a culture (ie: right now) and one with out and see if there is a difference between the two in regards to bacteria growth.
