hello should put a top on my 29g tank to help with evaporation thanks

It will definitely help with evaporation but it may prevent good air exchange and will also limit the amount of light that passes through it. They can also grow a pretty good crop of algae oif you don't clean them regularly.

I keep the tops on. Its a pain. I may get a larger ato and take the tops off. I have to clean the glass at least once a week and the glass traps the heat from the lights as well. The evaporation should help to cool your tank. I got a chiller just to make up for the difference. Totally a matter of choice. If you do keep the glass on do the maintenance of you'll be sorry.
