What corals would a Flame Angel nip at in a 55g reef tank - or in a tank that size shuld i just not bother with a Flame angel because that the only one i want.

It's a roll of the dice. It may not nip at anything. May nip at xenia, or clam mantles, or SPS, or a little of everything. I say, if you really want one, try it. Worst case, you have to trap and remove him if he nips too much, or remove the types of corals he nips at.

sorry there isn't a more definitive answer.

i would guess only rare individual would nip at LPS corals and clams..however i have mine in 75gal, and it's not nipping anything but chasing my coral beauty.

Most centropyge angels are 50/50 when it comes to nipping at corals. There is a fairly decent chance that he will nip at something, but a lot of angels seem to have a preference and if there seems to be one or two corals you could just take them out. I think flame angels are beautiful and well worth the risk of nipping.
