Hey everyone,

Currently I have a single light strip with hood for my tank, but since I will be introducing a wrasse known to be a jumper, I will be needing something that completly covers my tank. My setup is a 55 gal. AGA tank with megaflow and with a Aquafuge hang-on. What are some suggestions for a tank cover? My first choice would be a canopy, but I believe the Aquafuge and overflow with all their intake and outake pipes would get in the way. Do I need to get some egg crates and cut them to fit around all this crap? I really need something secure and snug enough so that the wrasse which is about 5" wont be carpet surfing.

Thanks,
Gary

Build a wooden frame to fit over the top of your tank. Cover the frame with netting. This will prevent the fish from surfing. HTH

Lots of people use what is called eggcrate to do that.

My DIY skills may be a little lacking, but I suppose I dont have much of a choice here. How easy is it to cut eggcrate and what tools will I need? Thanks.

Yes eggcrate works great, and it still lets the light through.

I pair of diagonals cuts them just fine.

I've found that tin snips work great with egg crate.

And/or scissors if you are cheap. ;)
