lighting question

my tank is 48l-23t-18w and i was talked into t5s ( i wanted mh but they said i could grow anything with these )anyway the t5s are a 8 bulb nova and i was wondering can i salvage this system and buy a clamp on 150 mh light or am i wasting my time ?

you would probably be wasting your time as the 150w metal halide would only penetrate about 18 inches. You woul need the 250w, but I have seen tanks with just t5's and the corals do very well.
