I see all these big systems or even small one's with a closed loop for flow. From the pics it looks like may of these are simply a hole in the side of the tank that is plumbed to a high output pump. My question is, "How do these system keep from sucking in there fish?". Maybe I'm missing something but if you running 2000gph through a 100 gallon tank and there is just a hole in the side for intake, your gonna loose some fish from being sucked in. :p

Depending on how much flow you plan to push, you can split your inlets (still use the screens).

Something like this;
