I think its a toadstool because of the flat folded shape.

funny because they HAD toadstools and they looked NOTHING like this. it's almost like a cross between a toadstool and yellow leather

Yeah its superfolded, maybe where it was collected from was very rocky or highly populated. It does appear more Fiji yellow though. So I guess we just call it a fiji brown.
I can't think of anything else tht is so flat that is not a sarcophyton.

I vote toadstool. You should see more polyps over time. Great shape though.

I vote for S Elegans. Just a nice brown as opposed to yellow.

s. elegans has flower like polyps and is completely covered in polyps.

it looks kind of like a sarcophyton latum but i don't believe it is one though (maybe close relative/species). i'd need to see the base.
but besides that, the curls are too frequent and the high number of polyps at the edges is higher than what's normally found for s. latum.
i'm not sure which species it is but imo it isn't latum but it's close. but besides that i'm pretty sure it's a sarcophyton.

Toadstool is a generic name, but fits for that coral.
Sarcophyton is definately the genus though..
