I recently bought some refugium algae from a LFS and they were not paying much attention because when I got home I noticed I had three of these (for $3.50 in algae). My tank is still relatively new and I was not planning on putting corals in the tank yet but since I didn't pay for these I decided it was worth a shot. I cut some off the bottom (the last one I cut off quite a bit cause it was pretty limp) and glued them to a rock. They open up when there is light and close when they get touched and during the night when the light is off. In case you are wondering there are lots of air bubbles on them as I was aerating the water.

Sorry if this is the wrong section but I have no idea what these are.

It looks like clove polyps at the top, but they usually don't have that long of a column.

they were all about 2-3 inches when I got them and then I trimmed some off if that helps

Looks like Clavularia. Anthellia can't retract its polyp.

Looks like clove polyps to me. I've seen them with stalks that long many times.
