My gigas is growing an inch every two months this is a picture of him with his cousin when I first bought him now he is three times his size and there seems to be no end in sight. today he might not be a monster but I'm possitive he will be.http://reefcentral.com/gallery/data/500/81436my_baby_4.jpg

I am thinking of getting a monster Gigas clam for a show tank.
Whats the biggest Gigas in captivity?
I want this new clam to be the biggest. (A world record of sorts.)

I'm sure it would cost a LOT and have to be pretty darn big to set a record! Not to mentions the system to keep it in...

I like this one that host two clowns...

Waikiki Aquarium has a number of gigas clams that are larger than any clams I've ever seen (barring clams seen in the wild). They're at least 3 feet long. Chances are that the pic above is of one of them.

Not to get commercial in this thread but does anybody know somewhere to get gigas juveniles? I'd like to pick up a baby and let it grow. Also, how much do they normally run in $$?

That picture was taken at Reefsystems in Columbus Ohio.

my gigas is a good foot and and a half long and probably about a foot across at its widest point, it takes up the middle of my 180. I have had it for over 3 years now.

That's clam is great !
But it looks like its in a green house with natural sunlight.
Also the Hawaii aquarium clams are using ocean water and sunlight.
What the biggest Gigas under captive conditions?
(artificial lights and synthetic seawater)

That one from Reef Systems was in an Aquarium 6 months before, it got to big for his 500 so he moved it out to the green house

I've seen a 2+ footer in a LFS in Hong Kong in a fairly deep tank w/ what appeared to be predominantly actinic lighting. Don't know if it was a gigas.
