I was laying down this evening on my couch watching my tank. I was watching my orange linkia star. He was moving on the glass towards my large BTA. One of the linkia's arms touched the BTA. The linkia started to move away then just let go of the glass and fell right in the middle of my BTA. By the time I jumped up and got to my tank the BTA closed halfway around the linkia. As I pulled the BTA closed even more. I did manage to pull the linkia out. That was a close one. Now I'm nervous if it will happen again and I wont be there...

Probably a coincidence. Do starfish have brains? Anyway, I think the BTA would eventually spit the starfish out when it realized it wasn't really edible to it.

But, I'm sure stranger things have happened!

It is doing great. It ate all my pink sponge. Oh well it was free.

Yeah a lot of starfish are coral killers :(

A sponge is not a coral. It is probable that sponges are a large part of the diet of some Linckia spp. in the wild. This may be why some of them don't last very long in our systems.

You can see in this pic all the pink sponge on my GSP. All the pink is gone. I will post a recent pic soon. Here is one of it before the star got to it.
