nice tank, one question is the mystery wrasse aggressive at all to any fish? i have dispars bartletts firefish clowns and wondering if he is docile, marine center says they are bold but other sites say they are peaceful

My mystery wrasse was one of the first fish that I introduced to my tank. He has been very peaceful to all of my other fish.

healthy looking tank and nice aquascaping. How do you keep the substrate clean like that?

Is your Wantanabie angel hard to take care of? Any special requirements?

She was one of my first introduced to my tank. Very good eater and reef safe. Mild temperment.

how long have you had that female psychedelic wrasse? I've been fascinated with all of the anampses wrasses for years but been scared to get any of them. I used to work at an excellent fish store and we never had any luck with them.

I've had her for almost 5 months now. She was half the size she is now and has done very well in my tank. I tried a male, but it was too stressed out by the time it made it to my tank, but the female has done great.

I have a male watanabe with a potters angel no problems...they ignore each other! i am getting a female this coming week...hopefully they get along! Yours is BEAUTIFUL! I love the streamers...how big is the tank

Also have you had any problems with the 2 leopard wrasses? I tried 2 twice and it didnt work! I even added them both at the same time...and one always ends up killing the other!

Nice pics! I still can't get over how purple your bartletts are. Do you have any sort of top to prevent jumping of those pricey wrasses? :)

As a matter of fact, I built one a few weeks ago, useing an idea from Gary Majchrzak, screen door frame with garden cloth netting as a screen.

It amazes me that My bartletts are so dark also.

Cool. What is that tall pink spikey coral just left of center?

bradleyj
03/10/2007, 11:41 PM
That is my pink with purple polyp seriatipora, I got it as a small frag from a club member. It has really grown out weird, but cool.

This is the frag. August 7th ,2006

I'm having trouble w/ my mystery hiding and not active at all.

Any suggestions?

Brad - looks good. i like the blue :)

finless - is it a new addition? mysteries tend to be shy in the beginning but will quickly become bold once they get use to the tank.

It was the second fish added to a new tank .It was setup on Christmas day.
It is a very small mystery. I wonder if it will grow out of being shy?

I wish there was a correct answer to give you, but I think all you can do is wait and see. Hopefully he will come around and feel more at ease.

My LFS called today and had a shipment from Vanuatu come in. He told me he had got in some nice fairies and he was right. I picked up a nice Temmincki and a Coral sea fairy (Bathyphilus)

brad, any fighting between the new fish? Those bathiphylus are soooo shy at first. Make sure he eats well when you feed. If it came from vanuatu then it isn't a coral sea variant. Only australia collectors get the coral sea variants. Both almost identical but there are some noticeable differences :)

bradleyj
03/16/2007, 06:12 AM
There wasn't any fighting yesterday, just the normal curiosity and flashing. Like you said, the bathiphylis only came out a couple of times and seemed overwhelmed by all the other fish. The temminck was out and about in 30 minutes. I'll keep a close eye on the coral sea. What are the diferences ?

zemuron114
03/16/2007, 04:12 PM
The vanuatu ones seem to have more of the hooded feature. ie: red on the head and about 1/3 way down the body then it goes straight to yellow. the coral sea ones seem to merge the red and yellow together with an orangy middle.

vanuatu one - http://animal-world.com/encyclo/marine/wrasses/images/RosyfinFairyWrasse(VanuatuMale)WMW_Ap15C.jpg

coral sea - this was one i imported from coral sea
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v641/dlinehan/IMG_1349.jpg

It was a small male, but even when they get bigger there is still more orange in the mid section. This has just been my personal experience with these, it does not mean it is true for all of them :)

Oh, vanuatu ones are MUCH cheaper :)
