Aside from the tank itself and lighting, what are the main pieces of equipment that are some key to success?

1. Protein Skimmer?
2. Phosphate Remover?
3. Water movement?

decent skimmer and good wide spread flow. decent size refugium would be nice too.

Since I am just jumping into sps myself, I personally would say

- perfect and stable water par.
- 2 part dosing or calcium reactor.
- lots of indirect flow, one of my acros fell over from the flow in my tank and fell directly in the flow of my powerhead and it ripped the tissue right off.

You dont need the phos. reactor unless you have phosphates. I would get the phos. reactor and put carbon in it. After I change out my carbon the water after is crystal clear. You dont need the biggest skimmer on the block if it's sps only but if you want to add fish then I would up the skimmer size. Ive personally never ran a refugium but have heard great things so I would also recommend that.

I hope that helps
