Is a PC 2x 65 watt fixture going to be enough to grow most soft corals? Im looking to convert an empty 29 gallon tank I have to a reef system. Would like to keep Mushrooms, Leathers, some Polyp species, a Bubble, and Brains. Nothing too crazy but still want some diversity and have it look good.

Is that sufficient lighting? And if so what spectrum should I get the bulbs in?

If not is there a PC fixture that will fit a 29 gallon tank?

It should do you OK with soft corals. You may have to play with tank placement on some of your animals but as long as you stick with softies I think you'll do OK.

I had a 29g with that set up and it did fine with softies, mushrooms, polyps, etc... I believe mine was an Orbit fixture that was designed for my size 29g. It fit perfectly.

what type of bulbs you use will make a difference. actinia bulb will make them look great, but at the most i was told to have one of the bulbs to be a 50/50 buld and the other like a 10,000k bulb. Thats what i was told would give me the best results, and still give the blue light to give everything a real nice look. havent put any corals in my tank yet, but its makes the most sense to me.

my 29 did fine with 2x2 55w pc's - one set daylight, the other actinic. Ran the actinics for 14 hours and the daylights for 12 for artificial twilight. I kept everything you've mentioned and they did fine, and you've got a bit more light than I did.

i have a 29g tank w/2x65w (which are the same as 55w pc's i guess...) and all the softies do fine in there. I just use a 10K daylight and an 03 actinic (sometimes i use a different blue bulb tho)
