return pump for the 24NC?

I see that most people have changed their return pump out for a MJ1200. Does it fit in the back chamber without modding anything? I changed mine out a while back to a Hydor L35 pump. The box states it pumps 450 gph. So why is everyone using MJ1200 instead?

Am i missing something obvious?

Probably just because they're easy to get your hands on. At every local fish store in the nationwide. And yeah, they fit in the back chamber without any modification, with pretty good flow...
