How will I transfer all of my sediment/critters from my old refugium?

I am upgrading my sump and I am wondering if I should put all of my old sediment into my new refugium. I don't want to kill all of my millions of brittle stars and pods... I guess I will just have to transfer as much as possible?

Any suggestions would help me a lot. Anyone experience this situation.

I will add more sediment to the refugium part of my sump, of course, so I guess I can top that off w/ my old sediment?

How old is the current sand bed in that refugium?

The majority of pods would be in the macro algae and on any rock / rubble. Moving those over is no problem.
