I'm getting ready to build a retro hood for my 90 gallon reef tank and I have a couple questions I was hoping to get some expert advice on......
1) The hood that I currently have with my tank setup is not real tall, in other words the top mounting surface is only about 6-8" from the water surface. Ideally I would like to incorporate dual 250W MH with 2x65 PC's. From what I've read in the forums most people recommend eliminating the glass lids. Will my bulbs be too close to the water level?
2) As mentioned above my plan is dual 250W MH with 2x65W PC's. Would there be any other recommendations that you all would have? The tank was originally setup in Michigan with a Jebo 4x65W fixture. Thanks to the movers during our trek out to Colorado this fixture was destroyed and I'm getting ready to try MH's for the first time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've gone into 10 different LFS and have received 9 different suggestions for lighting.
