OK. So I need a fish that is Blue to add color to my tank. I have a yellow tang so a Hippo tang and a blue powder tang are out. Also I have some restrictions because I only have a 65 Gal. I was thinking about a Blue Throat Trigger but I am open to ideas. I don't want damsels. Please share your thoughts.

Depending how many other fish besides your yellow tang are in your tank, you may be able to get yourself a small male blue throat trigger around 3". Just make sure it's a male because that's the one that has the blue throat, not the female.

Blue Chromis would be a nice addition, but they grow to be upto 5", maybe 2 or 3 would be nice. Again, depending on your current fish bioload.

A blue sided fairy wrasse is another option

Awsome.....I was just looking at blue throats. Are they reef safe? Agressive?

Blue throats are reef safe and peaceful fish.

You might be able to get a single Watanabei Angel depending upon the swimming space in your tank. She's the fish in my Avator. They only grow to 6", but aren't as common as the Blue Throat. Plus they are reef safe and always out.

My hippo and yellow tangs got along fine but that may be too many tangs for a 65 gal. I would suggest a neon damsel, Pomacentrus alleni. They're a beautiful neon blue, they stay small and they're relatively mild mannered as well.

Here are a couple of wrasses that would work well.

Blue Sided Fairy

Blue Flasher Wrasse

Scotts Fairy Wrasse

I think these are neat but don't have alot of details.

Blue reef chromis are nice.

There also several varieties of dartfish that are bluish in color

Isn't that too many fish for a 65G? I have a 55G with two clowns, and a hippo and though I had too much.

But again it all depends on the fish size and personal preference...but I will really like to add a yellow tang, I just don't want to over do it.

Sorry to hijack this tread. :)

Ever see the Orkin commercial where the guy has a stick full of ants, and holds them underwater? it was a turning point in my life. LOL

Just to try and keep this on track, what about a coral beauty, flameback angel, or bluespot jawfish?

My LFS is ordering me a Pacific (Whitetail) Pygmy Angel, as I have also been looking for something blue to add to my tank...will be in on Sat., looks pretty cool and reef safe! Will let you know how it turns out if it is something you're considering...

I have both a male and female Bellus. I like them both, but if you want blue, get the female.

Those are not my actual fish, although they look just lke them. I didn't have pics handy when I posted. I bought mine from from two different LFS. I've had the female for a year or so and got the male recently.

65 is to small for a bluethroat. they are open water swimmers and they will pace back and forth alllll day. i suggest blue side fairy. easy to get, cheap, and hardy. plus they will get along well with your current stock.
