I will sport an extruded housing made in China, as well as larger, more 'reef optix 3'-ish reflectors than the last. There will be 4 rows of halides, and the whole thing is supposed to cost no more than the existing unit.

When I spoke to our rep a couple months ago. He had said they would have LumenMax style reflectors and would cost a bit more than the exisiting unit he thought at the time. And I think you ment 4 T5's not halides. I will try to get some updated info about the specs soon.

Oh, yeah... duh... I means 4 rows of T5s, not halides. Well, according to Sam from SLS, the price should be the same.... but I believe that many dealers will mark up the price so as not to make selling off the older ones impossible.

do you know if they will have 4x t5s in the new units? That is the only reason why i'm not getting the current model. I'm willing to wait if the new model will have them, if not i will just get something else.

To the best of my knowledge yes they will

From the sounds of it, nothing is written in stone and things could change but as of right now it is slated to have 4xT5's.

Did I stutter?

Later tonight, I can post some of the CAD diagrams that I have from SLS.

Heck, there is one still in my gallery from way back then... ignore the cords and dots... they were merely to show the best possible options for where the cord should come out...

Oh, and that is not the actual color... just a CAD filler. The color will be black, although I put in my request for Ferrari Red.

THANKS....

I was just making sure. I email SLS to try get a release window and feature details.

Still haven't heard anything back.

edit: wow that pic is from aug. I'm starting to lose hope that these will be out anytime soon..... :(

Seems like they would have release some info by now....

Any idea if they will make a 24 inch fixture, or a 36 with only a single 250w mh?

hahnmeister

Not at first. Sam said that the 4' unit... being the most commonly desired, would be first. Then either a 6' or 3'. Lastly, the 2'.

USC-fan

that will be great if they can get the 4' out first since that is the one i'm waiting on. :)

Thats the plan. 4' fixtures are the most commonly made/used.

I've been waiting on this unit since last September...I need the 3' fixture so I am going to have to wait a while after the first set come out. It should be worth the wait :). At least that is what I have been telling myself for the past 8 months.

little update:

I have had a lot of patience for this product but Sam has one reason or another for all of the delays. Not that I have angst about it, it is the way of buisness...it is what it is. But I am getting really sick of waiting and getting delay after delay. I think it may be time to re-think my lighting and investigate alternatives to the Maristar 2.

It seams like this product might be stalled out. For some reason it seams hard to find the perfect HQI/T5 pendant. I guess by perfect I mean a pendant with high quality reflectors for both the halides and t5's. I think the european trend of open topped tanks is gaining in popularity here in the US, however the manufacturer's are lagging behind in producing suitable products. Anybody with any bright ideas about alternative halide/t5 pendants.

I have been waiting for the Marister 2 fixture to come out but now I just don't care anymore. I might just find a way to hang the unit and buy the Giesemann

Aquactinics makes a MH/T5 fixture. I just started carrying their products so I am not totally familar with it but it seem very nice. If you have any questions, please let us know.
Thanks!
