Hi All,

A few weeks go I found this fish at a nearby (relatively) LFS. Because of the blue edges of the caudal, adipose and anal fins. The problem is the colour pattern. I have looked at every book I have (that took all of 30 minutes....I have to go to Borders...), and did a few searches on line...but no luck. (of course, if this is a common species, I will feel a little silly...but enlightened:))

Here is what I know about it's behavour:

1. Not shy, but a little reclusive. It likes to spend time in a cave area where my serpent star lives.

2. Loves eating Amphapods and and other meaty treats...but scavenges live rock for prey

3. Not afraid of the lion, but not interested in confronting it either (The lion was placed in the aquarium two weeks earlier than the angel)

This information may or may not be valuable, but it is all I have.

Any help would be appreciated :)

I think the 30 would fine as long as it and the lion are pretty much it.

Yea, it is a dwarf angel (about 4" when grown) but I also hear they need more swimming room than most (don't know if 30 will work long term). Here's a recent thread about potters:

Here's what wetwebmedia has to say:

Def. a Potter's. Add nori on a clip, and get him eating flake and mysis. A small new tank like that and the Potter's will quickly starve if not switched over. Curious tank mate he has.

Also I would open up the rockwork and give hime holes and tunnels if you don't already have them.

The aquarium was a 29 Eclipse (threw out the hood and kept the glass...best $150 I ever spent...:| ) with 4.5 in sand and ledges and caves all over the bottom and back. The top foot or so is open as is most of the front area. Right now, he/she(?) eats enriched brine shrimp and nori with relish...but still loves to pick at the rock. I do not mind the nominal effort it takes to thaw out some brine and target feed, but should I convert him over to dry food? I also feed live brine once every two or three weeks, although I am not sure he likes it (he eats, but doesn't chase after the food...just snaps a few as they float by)...

Oh..he also seems to like copepods. I bought a bottle of tiger pods and he went a little crazy racing around snapping them up. As a side note, the lion fish didn't seem to care at all.

Merk1: The tankmate is a dwarf fuzzy lion. It is a really cool fish that actually has a LOT of personality. It recognizes people (I think) and likes to hunt it's food. I will place some enriched brine shrimp in front of him and he will target each, one at a time as if he is stalking them. It is really cool to watch:) ...he does seem to irritate some of my zoas though...but nothing too bad so far.
