Has anyone tried fishing, either fresh or saltwater, with bait soaked in garlic or garlic added to a lure? Wouldn't this be a way to tell if it really does entice feeding? Or would it still be to subjective?

It was a fad for a long time, and it still is. There are many commercially available attractants that you can add to your lures to make them smell better. Lots contain garlic. Most of these come in sprays. I haven't seen any statistical information on it, and I've tried them without an increase or decrease in success rates.

I just have my doubts that it entices a a feeding reaction and I was wondering how it could be tested. I do feed some garlic enhanced foods to my fish. I have never had Ich but I haven't seen a new fish eat any faster (subjective opinion) either way. I also don't know that it does anything for Ich either. Just wondering if the benifits have ever been actually tested or if this is just a myth that has grown to fact over the years.
