Sorry they aren't the best pictures, I really didn't feel like messing with it too much today.

Thanks, any good info on these? Is mine a "nice" one? Is it worth the $49 I payed for it?

well.. keep it far far away from anything else. it will send out sweepers of death, and kill anything it can get its hands on.

:( not exactly what I wanted to hear.... Well I'm changing my rockwork to by sort of pyramid like, so I guess if it is at the very top it will be like a tree topper, and stay away from everything else. The only thing that would get in its way would be my stupid xenia, but I don't care too much if that gets beat up, I have too much of it. I was really just attracted to it's color. It really livens up my tank.

it is actually more of an lps, as it will take large pieces of food. i wouldn't put it too far up right away; the xenia will not venture close to the hydnophora.

cool, by large pieces, do you mean like the size of a mysis shrimp? Or bigger?

I have a smaller frag of this and have never had a problem with sweepers...

it is a sps. it has a different coralite structure however it can eat larger meatier foods. it will kill anything that comes in contact with it. i have never seen sweepers on the three that i have but i have seen them win way too many battles.

To anyone who doesnt believe a hydno will kill. Put a coral 1 inch away and see what happens. I have 3 different types. All lethal. Oh, and see them just after the lights come on. Or even better. With a flashlight at night. Youll see.

ive seen sweepers in person that were close to 12 inches long. they arent really sweepers, but thick thick tendrils (Mesenterial filaments) that will search out others and kill. they can and will fully envelope other corals and kill them.

this is a friends hydno, sending out an assault to a nearby coral, in my reef club

Yup it is a crazy piece. I sell pieces out of my tank that size for about 25 to 30 bucks. So probably not bad out of a LFS. And yes the sweepers will wipe stuff out. Luckily it keep my yellow acro in check as that has tabled huge.
