well I got my 180 up and running I have a inline 1/3 hp chiller that I do not have hooked up inline I have it returning to the fuge. it has a mag 7 on it so about 650 gph? the return is 1200 gph which is too high for the chiller. the problem is my aptartment is about 90 degrees right now and the chiller is at 82 constantly running heating up the place more. is it because the chiller is not inline my heating issues are a problem or is it too much flow in the chiller or not enuf flow through the chiller. This is not going to work when it really gets hot up here.

the chiller has alot of clearance around it but I will find a fan to help blow away exhaust.

heres the pumps
external return blueline velocity T-4 (I didnt return it) quitier than the pcx 55 I had for the return
external pcx-55 for the skimmer
2 rio seio 1100
3 mj 1200

lighting has a open top canopy
3 250 watt metal halides
2 160 watt 6' VHO's

I threw a 4 inch fan blowing air into the stand.

The current configuration may not allow me to throw fans into the canopy but I should be able to throw them on top blowing downwards

Your house is way to hot it needs to be in the mid 70's. Youll never get anywhere with the house that hot, oh yeah chillers suck because they heat the crap out of the house. I have a love/hate relationship with mine. I hate it but I couldnt live without it.

well thats the thing it needs to shut off for the house to cool. its like having a heater set to 100 deg off the exhaust. how the heck do I cool the tank down to stop the chiller from working so hard.

If your house is really that hot (and there is nothing you can do about it) you're going to need to shave some serious watts off your reef if you want to have any chance of keeping the water at an acceptable temperature.

Your best friend is evaporative heat loss here. I'd recommend having multiple fans blowing on the water in the sump and perhaps tie them to a temperature controller. You could very easily get two medium flow kits from MJMods.com and two MJ900's and replace those three MJ1200's with two Maxi-Stream 900's. This will eliminate 41 watts right away and result in a significant increase in flow. This will let you drop the two Seio 1100's which gets rid of another 42 watts.

Your sump return pump is drawing 140 watts 24/7 and producing too much flow. Ideally you'll send 3-5 tank volumes/hour through your skimmer sump loop. For this you could use an Ocean Runner 3500 or an Eheim 1260 both of which draw 65 watts shaving yet another 75 watts 24/7.

So all this will cut 41+42+75=158 watts off your tank without impacting flow in the slightest. Add to that the extra fans which will drop temperature significantly and you might have a fighting chance.
