Water Changes

What can I use to do a 25-30 gallon water change? I've been using a lot of 5 gallon buckets, with multiple airators, but now I have a closet that I can use as a fish room, and was trying to figure out some sort of garbage can or barrel type of system with a pump. The problem with the garbage can is that they all seem to have ridges on the bottom to prevent a good mixing system. What are other people using?

i use the rubbermaid tubs that you can get from walmart. i got 2 that are 30 gallons worth and i fill them to about the 20 gallon mark as the plastic really bows out... if you get the rubbermaid trash can and the high flow pump then the ridges in the bottom should not make that much of a difference. i would not think anyways.

It might not make a difference in the mixing, I'm actually more concerned with the pumping. I have a 15 foot hose that I'm going to use to pump the water into my sump. I'd like to put exactly 25 or 30 gallons of water in one container and be able to pump it all out. With the ridges, it'd probably hold a gallon back that it wouldn't be able to pump.

I put 43.9 gallons in my 44 gallon brute on wheels with no trouble of bowing what so ever...

I have two 44 gal BRUTE garbage cans - one for RO water and one for saltwater - in the garage. I use a mag pump for waterchange with my 210 gal in the familyroom. It works great and the whole thing takes not more than 15 minutes.

What do you mean by flat bottom? Kind of I guess LOL. It's full o water so I can't get a pic for ya.
After looking again, the bottom of the can KINDA looks like the lid you see in the pic. Hope this helps.

I see a lot of people using the brute can. I think that's what I'll go with. Thanks everyone for the input.:cool:

i use a 100 gallon rubbermaid stock tank.

I use 100g rubbermaid stock tanks as well... I run a line from my RO/DI to it with an auto top off and mix with MJ's.

I don't need one, but what in the hell is a 100g stock tank?

It is the grey tub next to my can in the pic above (my sump). They are used to water horses and cows (stock). and like the Brute cans, they are food safe.

The macro and frag tank was 50gal stock tanks and the Fuge and Sump are 150gal... The 100gal looks like the 150gal, just about 2/3rd the size...
