I buy 4 buckets at a time for only $16 shipping I think.
All the others charge me an extra $20 for each bucket.
Do you guys lose a ton of money shipping salt? Will this shipping policy change or do you think its here to stay?
Either way I love it and buy all my salt from you guys.

Reefkoi,

Our shipping policy has been based on merchandise totals for quite some time as we have found that this is the best option overall. We are happy to be able to offer lower shipping prices for large and heavy items and do not intend to make changes in the near future.

Sincerely,

I buy my salt that way as well. What a great deal! Of course all my experiences have been positive so I keep on coming back.

I still don't understand how you guys do that but I like it :D .. I checked with other vendors and they want $150 just for shipping for 4 buckets. You guy charged me only $12 or $13 :eek1:

I agree! I always buy my salt from Drs and I usually get a few other things while I'm at it. Great company to buy from.

Since Dr. F & S seems to be one of the big players in the aquatic game, they may receive special pricing with the preferred shipper.

Does the company have something like a contract with the preferred shipper and you guys get a different rate?

I'm sure if a regular ole Joe consumer was to ship a bucket of salt, it would cost a substantial amount of $$, versus a big retail company shipping out products.

I think this is kind of how it works..

JOSEPHLB,

Thank you for your input. Yes, we have contracts with all our shippers since we ship out such large amounts. Our shippers charge us based on the dimensional weight of our packages which means we loose money on large or heavy items including salt. We decided long ago to help offset these shipping charges for our customers by charging only by merchandise amount. I'm happy to hear that everyone appreciates this effort.
