Hi,i was just wondering if it matters how you set up your 4 way,I know alot run them of there return line but I was going to use one of my 1.5 inch drains in my overflow with a pump sorta like a closed loop i guess except im using a overflow drain and not drilling the tank, will this be ok?any drawbacks to this method.

thanks.

The more i think about this i realize it probably will not work.

id run it off my return but i want to gravity feed my skimmer 100% of the overflow water and i was planning on using smaller pump to do this,i dont want any drainage by passing the skimmer to the sump, therefore id be running a 4 way on a small pump(low gph).

why dont you just use it on a closed loop and hang the PVC over the back instead of drilling? I wouldnt use your return to get flow in the tank, you will be pushing too much water through it plus its just pointless and noisy

shag26272 I agree with you, right after i posted i realized it won't work,i never thought about hanging the pvc over the back thats a good idea, thanks.

just put a strainer on the pipe that goes into the pump and run it down the back wall of the tank or something like that

If your going over the top with a 4way use 45 degree elbows instead of 90's.

Here is how I instaled mine.

nice zenon, maybe i will drill the back of the tank.45's will cut down on pressure loss i guess.
