Last night i happened to walk past my tank with its lights off and notice something swimming around in my tank. This something is about 3 or 3 1/2" long, about 1/8" in dia. and its rear portion looked like a cream color and half way to the front looked like some blue metallic color markings all the way to the head area. I quickly got my flashlight and get a better look at it but after a minute or so of shinning the light at it the thing dissappeared. Seeing as how it was dark, i am gathering it must have been a baby eel or sea snake (I think they are nocturnal). I can't figure out where this thing came from. Whether it came in attached to a coral or was it in some live rock i purchased. Any way, has anyone had any experience with this situation on the best way to identify it? I have started doing a search on the internet but i have not found anything that might resemble it. Anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like a worm to me. A snake would be pretty improbable. Try using a red filtered light to get a better look at it.

If it has eyes, gills, fins, and a large mouth it's not a worm.

I would love to get a better look at it. The only problem is i can't find it. I'm not sure if it has eyes or fins. Its pretty thin and i didn't get a very good look at it in the dark. If it was a worm it seems like when it swam past my cinammon clown he would have wolfed the thing down. The clown looked afraid of it.
