I am wanting to upgrade so bad but cant decide on the perfect size. I am thinking of between 180g and 240g been searching craigs list for 3months now and feel i might just need to order a custom tank.

What do you guys think of 66x33x23 this would be a viewable from 3 sides similiar to aztb's. It will be lighted by 3 400w MH's
Like the odd numbers

I am thinking that the depth needs to be at least 30" for interesting aquascapes

if you are talking front to back, then ya, i agree, depth makes a big difference.

i do like the 180 AGA size too though, and the 72" length gives bigger fish plenty of room to swim.

This is pretty close to what you are talking about, and it looks sweet!

I just started a 210 from a 125, I say buy the BIGGEST that you can handle! Buy the 240 or more! TinMan

My only advice is make sure you can reach the bottom!
Mines 24" tall, gets a little tough to reach beyond that.

The bigger the better.

If you have the option to go bigger, why not do it? You'll thank yourself later. Good luck.

If you are talking width x height x depth, I'd say switch the height and depth numbers. Mine is 30 or 31" tall, and it sucks working near the bottom. 23" tall and 33" front to back would be really nice, IMO.

Right now I am leaning towards 66Lx33wx 18? 23? 24? tall

Some have said the bigger the better and why not. Well water changes for one :).
Bigger the tank the more money it cost to mantain. I already have most of the equipment to handle a 240.

Agree w/ SD guy.
24" gives me plenty of scaping room, but I can still just barely reach.
Easier to light bottom on shallower.
Longer tank is better for swimming room IMO.
However, looking at my 180 right now, I already want bigger, but like 400g.
But that's just our nature, and for me not practical.
The diff. you see in size between the 180 and 240 would make it hard for me to justify what a PITA it's going to be to clean or reach stuff. JMO

Also buy the biggest one...I love the smaller tanks, but the big one is my baby...

Good luck!:)
