Is there anyone that uses 2 part and doesnt use any lime water to top off but just regular RO/DI water? Or is this wrong and lime water should definently be used?

I've used 2-part without using limewater. That approach works perfectly well, no problems at all. The possible advantages of using lime are convenience (it can be dosed automatically) and maintaining a higher pH (which might not be desireable).

Yes.

Can you no longer maintain calcium and alkalinity with limewater ? I use two part alone, but if limewater could meet the demand for my tank I would just use that. I don't see a benefit to using both as it would just add to the maintenance.

not sure if lime water will keep up with the calcium and alk... its a new set up and i havent messed with the limewater yet... iv about got my top off doser set correctly, then i was going to work on programming the 2 part dosing...... im evaping alittle over 2 gallons a day and keeping up with having that much limewater on hand could be a problem..

im going to get a big brute trash can and just fill it with RO water, i dont want to put lime water in that because that will be a serious pain in the neck to rince out after every trash can full

You don't have to rinse it out. every time. Actually a large reservoir is a great way to add limewater. I'd give it a shot and see how it goes. Generally it's fine for new setups. If you have a lot of stony corals it may not work though.

I have 3 favia (1 frag 2 pretty big ones), 1 branching hammer (10 branches), 1 branching frogspawn (6 large branches).... other soft corals include shrooms, rics, toadstool, and a gsp

I'd give it a try
