I just picked these guys up the other day and they have quickly become my favorites. Lots of color. Anybody else have any experience with these? http://reefcentral.com/gallery/data/500/78239firefish2.jpg

Couldn't have picked up an algae scraper while you were there?
Really nice looking fish! Make sure you have a top/screen on your tank to keep those beauties in.

Hey now, there is only a little algae along the sand bed where the magnet doesn't get, besides after I picked these 2 up there wasn't enough $$$ left over to buy a scraper:)

yay purple firefish! these are one of my favourite fish in terms of colouration. Just makee sure you have a tight ftting lid with no holes they can jump throough (because they are skittish and are great carpet surfers).
who needs to buy a 15$ algae scraper? lol just use an old credit card. Im paranoid so I cut off the magnetic strip part even though I don't think it would have made any real difference.

I want to get these for my reef tank! What else is in the tank with them? I heard they are real skittish and can't take any abuse! I was going to get a small school of green chromis (5), 3 fire fish, and a royal gramma.

they certainly are quite skittish and should be kept with only fish that are very peaceful. I would add the helfrichi (or any other firefish) before any other fish. Otherwise you might not see much of them.

I have one in a 12 gallon with a sailfin blenny, it's out most of the time but tends to stay only near the hole it likes to hide in. I'm going to be moving it to a 75 that I'm setting up so we'll see if it takes advantage of the extra room or not. It's definitely the most colorful fish I've ever had.

these guys have been around for a week now and have spent most of the time hanging out on the end of the tank in full view rarely hiding out. I have Anthias, wrasses and a couple Tangs in with them.

yay purple firefish!
They are Helifrichis firefish, much more expensive and rare than a purple.
I second the tight fitted lid comment, My friend had a helfrichis in a 24g nano and it jumped out. Big time bummer. By the way, nice pair!
