Good Luck Art. You are on your way. And, BTW, many of those suction cup heaters won't stay stuck unless you get a bigger suction cup.

Wow this is taking along time. I know in my head that @ 75 gal a day it should take 2 days to fill the tank but it is agonizing watching the water trickle into the tank..... Drank several Beer's last night watching it... This is like watching grass grow.

Seehag, 75g per day is a theoretical number, which is affected by your water pressure and water temp. The one I used yrs ago (havent bought one yet, just getting started back in the hobby) was more like 75g per week , uugh! barely got anything from it.

Practicing your patience? :D

Much better that you test your plumbing before adding salt and rock, though. I'm so glad I did it, as there was a small leak in our system, ad the tank had to be drained.

You think filling the tank is slow. Just wait till you start curing rock and battle algae outbreaks. :D

Welcome both of you into the hobby and the, or so it seems, constant waiting.

Lotus,

Done all that 2 or 3 times now. I didn't change anything this time so it should be fine. All I did was fill it up with tap water and ran it for a couple of weeks, I filtered it with carbon to get all the little bits of stuff out. Then drained cleaned and dried it real good, to get all the stuff out of it. Drained all the lines for the closed loop. Now I am re-filling it.

Done,,,,,,:) Finished last night but had to top off early this morning. Now it is running and bringing it up to temp before adding the salt. will test after that and add whatever it need's. My pump for my protien skimmer is making all kinds of noise. are Iwaki's quieter?

I have a aquac ev 180.. it is installed in the sump..

I just lay my heaters in the sump. I find no real reason to even mess with suction cups. Not worth the effort.

Good luck with the tank.

sump/ fuge set up and running. Notice my bubble trap didn't work so well...:)

Another shot of Bubble trap not working...:(

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e13/zabad1/100_0335.jpg

Protien skimmer running and getting gunk from something must have been something in the salt I guess...?

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e13/zabad1/100_0334.jpg

My attempt to quiet everything down is not working due to the fact that the priotien skimme does not have a 90 elbow on the outflow. I read I should not impeded that flow any but I need t put the elbow back because it sounds like a water fall in there. Also I am getting no micro bubbles back through the sump so I am happy about that. I hopefully will order the rock fro TBS next week to arrive on next weekend, can't wait..

put the elbow back on the skimmer and directed the water down below the waterline that helped. I think the bubble trap is quieter than the reverse duso so I will make another one this weekend for the skimmer section.

I still have some vibration noise from the pump so I need to put something between it and the side of the sump, hte pipe is tied there with tie wrap to make it tight.
