About two weeks ago I picked up a mushroom rock from my LFS and stuck it in a nice place in my tank. Its been just fine ever sence. It closes up now and then if it gets something messing with it but otherwise it just sits there. Today when I got home from work it looked really wierd though. Hope its just something it does and nothing to be concerned of.

Heres how it usually looks.

Wonder if a critter walked over it shortly before you saw it today causing it to retract? How's your water params, can you list them?

I havent tested them today but I tested last night and everything was perfect. For as young as my tank is its been very very stable. Im not to concerned about it being a water related issue because absolutely everything else in the tank is just fine. I guess I just found it odd cause normaly when something messes with this guy he closes up and looks kinda like a pomegranite (spelling?) or apple or something.

My mushrooms go through times where they act all weird as well. I would watch it but if your water peramiters are fine I am sure he will bounce back.

I'm not sure about the mushroom....but next time you do a water change, take that piece of rock out of the water. Gently remove the vallonia (green bubble algae)....then rinse the rock in used tank water before placing back into the tank to remove the spores.
