There is a compact flourescent floodlight that lowes and hd sell that works great. It even comes with a built in reflector and screws into a normal light socket.

a clamp style shop light from home depot or lowes. get one rated for at least 75watts, I use one for 150watts, and then get one of those spiral compact florescent bulbs, 6500k (ish) color spectrum. works like a charm and will only cost ya around $20.

I’m using a bulb Melev recommended from his Refugium Bulb page. I got the housing and the bulb at Lowes as stated above^.

Remember the incident in Boston about 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force’ cartoon and their advertisement campaign for it which caused a panic? I took it from that and modified the “mooninite” to be a “peaceful” character! I’ve never watched the show! Here is an article:

I don't think you'll find the light bulb Melev recommends at Lowes or Home Depot. One of the downsides of that bulb is that it seems to only be readily available online, and you thus have to pay shipping on the bulbs.

You'll also want to shoot for a 5200K bulb; a 6500K bulb would work obviously, but side by side comparisions seem to have shown that 5200K bulbs grow chaeto significantly faster than 6500K bulbs.
