View Full Version : Feed pump input on top?

Just trying to get to the bottom of a dumb question. Why do all the recirculating skimmers have the input fot their feed pumps on top of the reaction chamber? I figure that the pressure of the feed pump will blow across the bubbles and cause major turbulence right when their going to pop. Wouldnt it make more sense for the input to be as far away as the rising bubbles as possible? just a thought with a most likely simple answer that i'm missing.

Good question ... I was tempted to feed my skimmer beside or near the recirc pumps' inlet. It just seemed logical to keep the turbulence in one location.

I didn't do it that way though ... I thought why try to reinvent the wheel.

You do have a valid question, I don't see why you can't do it that way. I imagine people feed skimmers up high assuming that the water will be better skimmed before it exist the bottom of the reaction chamber.
