Jesse,

I am setting up a new 220 gallon tank and I have purchased your NS 4000 skimmer. Very excited to get it going. Should start the tank sometime in mid-April in our new office location.

Upon opening the box though, and looking through the manual it only covers the 500 and 1000 models and not the 4000...

Is there a pdf or another source for the manual for the 4000 and can you offer any advice on the height of the baffle in the sump skimmer section or advice on raising the skimmer off of the bottom of the sump to maximize performance.

My sump is in the process of being constructed so I would like to get those details sooner than later.

Cheers,

Steve

Good question. I will see if I can get a revised manual, I just noticed that about the manual. There are a couple of things that are different about the NS4000. Being that the NS4000 has 2 pumps it also has two injectors. You will notice that one of the injectors has a 90° elbow with a clear tube that extends further into the reaction chamber, this is the one that you will adjust the air. On the other injector it will run "wide open". The other thing that is different is the way that you restrict the outflow and that is with the "wedge pipe". For the most part, this will go unused once the skimmer is broken in but if you want to raise the bubble level simply restrict the outflow with the wedge pipe and/or add more air by loosening the clamp on the above mentioned air tube. The two injectors should have one with a red collar and one without and this is so you can decide to use one to run open and one to adjust. As far as rasing or lowering the skimmer it should not really matter much as long as the pumps are getting raw water and the level is below the outlet. It is fine to submerse the pvc outlet but the water level should be below the outlet on the skimmer body. If you have any other questions feel free to email or call and I can help you out. I will have some new 160xl's in next week and they have the new SUMP 4000 and if one of the owners doesn't mind I can take a few measurements of the skimmer compartment if you want? Enjoy the new skimmer and let me know if you have any other questions.

Should see this stuff end of this week. The new sumps are all sold to system buyers but I should have a few REA's in this next shipment.
