Depends on the eel. Snowflakes are generally good in a community tank, but you may not be able to trust them with small fish. They are primarily crustacean (shrimp, crab) eaters.

I have had a zebra moray for many years, kept it with fish as small as a royal gramma, and it never bothered a fish. In fact, it won't eat fish, alive or dead. Just frozen squid, scallops, shrimp and live fiddler crabs. It won't even eat live ghost shrimp!

There are other fish that are fish eaters, and some can be very aggressive feeders. I had a black edged moray I got as a baby that was so cute - until it grew into a terror that killed fish and went after me whenever I put my hand in the tank! And it was only a few feet long!

Reef Fishes, volume 1 by Scott Michael has an excellent chapter on eels. I recommend you read it as part of your research. You can also find some decent eel articles and information on www.wetwebmedia.com .

I second the zebra eel. I had two of them and they didn't bother any fish. If you are setting up the 150 gallon then that would be a good size for it also, they get around 36 inches or so. A snowflake eel may go after the smaller fish if they can fit in their mouths.

What kind of triggers are thinking about getting? Alot of the triggers get large and will be cramped if you decide to keep more than one.

Snowflakes are supposedly as timid as they come for morays.
With that said, my experience says otherwise. I'm 90% positive that my snowflake killed and ate a 3" Ambon Lion after it was only in the tank for 2 days. Granted he could have scavenged it since it may have been stressed by shipping, but I know for SURE that he ate the thing. Little punk was so fat he could barely breathe.
