View Full Version : What should I get for my 180?

I want to upgrade my powerheads but do not know exactly what to get. The picture shows the location of two powerheads in my mixed up reef to give an idea of the space available.

Reasons for upgrade:
More and better distributed flow.
Adjustable volume.
Adjustable direction if possible.
Maybe a controller.
Magnetic mount.

I know nothing about Tunze except that everyone seems to say it is top of the line.

Is that a 180?

I'll be interested to see what you say Roger. I'm setting up a new AGA 180 reef and I'm looking at my options too. I have 3 sea-swirls I can mount any pump to it if need to be :)

Thanks
RickyB

Oh, and iamwhatiam52 did say it was a 180, looks more like a 125 to me due to the way the depth looks.

Ah yes! I didn't see it in the title. For a 180 with soft corals and LPS I generally recommend 2 6000 Streams and the multicontroller.

How about SPS? How about the Tunze's mounted into the sea-swirl's?

I don't know that the seaswirls are made for that sort of weight load. It is also hard on the pumps cord. It can be done but I don't recommend it. For SPS get a TS24 kit.

Running in my 180g, 2x6100's, a wave box and the multicontroller. After using the wavebox I dont think i could ever set up a tank again w/o one. The streams are great but the wavebox just rocks...... Literally. :D
