The next step is to figure out which stand and canopy I will be using. I have a few different options.

R&J aquatics Extreme Series. Does anyone have any experience with this company and product? I already have a price quote of $1118 from my LFS.

BRI Aquatic Cabinets. Obviously the BRI is higher quality and more expensive. Is it worth the price difference?

Build it myself. I don't have too much experience but I could probably do it if I took my time. I would definitely have to buy a table saw and router which would add to the cost.

Anyone have any input.

We don't have any experience yet but we like the Extreme series from R&J.... We have ordered one with a cherry finish for a 150.

Can't wait till it comes in.

Oh and the price was 805.00.

PM us and we can compare notes. It may be the difference in dimensions. We'll also let you know where we ordered it from.

Thanks

I have used many RJ stands and canopies. They are well built. Much heavier duty than Perfecto or All Glass stands.

Wow nice. If you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay for your new tank? That is the exact size that i am going to be upgrading to this summer.

I had some 2x4's and 2x6's from a previous project so I thought I would start the stand and see how it went. I am not for sure if I can build it, if not I can always buy one.

Here is what I got so far.

As you can see I used (2) 2x6's and (2) 2x4's in each corner. I also used (2) 2x6's for the back center brace. I was doing pretty good until my countersink broke.

Do you think I need a center brace for the front?

I paid right around a grand for the tank.

Here are some update pics. Still not done yet, but the batteries died on my cordless drill.

Comments welcomed.
