I placed my first order from Reef Hot Spot last week for two zoanthid colonies. When I received them, one of the colonies was completely the wrong color. Max was nice enough to give me the option of keeping the wrong colony and either getting a refund or sending me the right color colony. I told him that I just wanted what I ordered and he was nice enough to accommodate the shipping date and said that he would hand select the colony himself to ensure accuracy.

Well, I received the replacement today and to my disappointment, the colony that he had sent me was yet another wrong color and again it wasn't even close. I was feeling pretty good about ordering from Reef Hot Spot again until this happened.... again.

I don't think that I am going to even bother asking another time, especially since I am going out of town for the weekend. This is a reputable company and I would recommend them... however be careful to get pictures of non-WYSIWYG. I requested that on the first order but never got a response either.

Flugelnuss,

I want you to know that we do appreciate that you are honestly disappointed in the coral. Your account is in good faith. That is much appreciated.

Please also accept that I am honestly surprised to hear that the zoa colony received is not the right one. I know exactly what piece you received as I pointed it out to the packers just prior to being bagged. In our tanks, under 400 W 15K XM bulbs, the colony conformed to the specs on the website.

Since there was a mistake with the first piece, there was no charge for that piece and it was free. The replacement was sent at no expense to you. Had we not believed the replacement piece to conform to the photo or the number of animals described then we would have just refunded it to you and called it a day. By shipping it priority overnight FedEx, we incurred a greater cost than the value of the piece. Of course, the only thing we would have to gain by paying more in shipping than the value of the piece is a satisfied customer.

I am truly sorry to hear that is not the case.

Sincerely,
Max
