I have a 55 with a yellow tang in it and would love to get a purple tang for it. Will they be safe together? Thanks in advance.

not in a 55G. they will fight and besides 55G is to small for either. tangs are 75G min. fish. and they are very teritorial.

I have a 95 gal reef tank with a Purple, Sailfin, Blue Hippo and a yellow. they get along just fine for over 1 year:)

with these two tangs is a hit or miss situation, IMO you would have a good chance if you were to buy them at the same time and with enough hiding place for each one to have its own territory, but since you already have the yt establish, IMO it prob wont work out, especially in a 55 gal. if you do decide to do it i would take out the yt for a few days while the pt settles in then put the yt back in. good luck

Ok thanks for all the help. I think I'll have to pass on THe PT for now then. I have a Passer angel in there with the YT now, but he is getting out of hand. See my other thread. Thanks again guys.

I would NOT do that in a 55gal
