I just purchaed an AM 1000 Kalk stirrer.....................nice unit if I do say........

1. Do I run the stirbar 24/7 or should it be on a timer? If on a timer, how often for how long?

2. I'm planning on using my exsisting ATO system which consists of an Aqua lifter being controlled by a float switch. Will this be enough pump for the kalk stirrer also? Or should I use a Mini Jet 404 I have lying around?

Thanks in advance,

Steve :D

AFAIK, that unit is designed to stir 24/7. The Aqualifter should work.

No; do not stir 24/7

The manual tells you this. The motor has a life, so place it on a timer.

I stir every few hours for 10 minutes and use the aquamedic parastaltic pump.

I love my stirrer 1000, btw; great purchase.

See that's the problem.....................I don't have a manual & Aqua Medic's site doesn't offer a downloadable version. If anyone has a PDF version of the manual, it would be much appreciated if you could up load it & send it to me............

Thanks Again,

Steve :D

Since this is a slow constant stir reactor, puting it on a timer you would not be able to maintain a saturated solution

Here is the manual

It is still not necessary to run it 24/7. You are not evaporating so much water so quickly that mixing once an hour will result in inferior kalkwasser. Without stirring, new water still has to enter from underneath kalkwasser powder, where it gets mixed without the bar.

The motor has a life of a little over ONE YEAR if you run it 24/7. That, to me, means this is not to be run continuesly.
