do they have a name?? i looked on zoaid, but couldn't find anything that matched it. and i don't think they are the famous PPE either.

their purple with a bright neon green mouth.

OMG, those look like bleached out PPE's!!! If not, they are some kinda people eater. You can tell by the green mouth. If you dont mind me asking what did you pay for a huge colony like that??? By the way, GREAT FIND!!

thanks, i just got them yesterday. maybe they'll brighten up with more color over time. i kno its some kinda people eater.....not too sure PPE tho. cuz PPE's have a green skirt, right?

your gonna hate me, but i paid 20 bucks for them. the rock has at least 50 polyps on it.

OH MAN!! Im with you, they have to be some kinda people eater. The ones lower in the bottom pic, have some green speckels in the skirt. So there is a chance you have some PPE... I would put them lower in your tank and see how they darken up. You could frag that bad boy and get alot more than you paid, lol. You got a hell of a deal, I cant even find a rock with 50 tiny zoos for 20 bucks!! Great find, and the best of luck!!

Michael

PS: i better be the first to know if you frag it,

they look like bleached rpes? (not the true...but the other kind). if not, just regular common PEs. give it some time to color up more under your lights. you should be able to tell more definitively then...nice score for 20bucks!

I wouldn't necessarily say that they're bleached, in fact I don't think they are at all. If they were photographed without any actinics ( under 10 K only ) and the wrong camera setting, they would look this way, washed out. Also, note how soft pinkish the coralline algae is on the rock in the upper right hand corner is. This could also denote what I mentioned above. Adjust the white balance on your camera and increase the K value of your bulbs and I'm sure you will see the purple become more evident in this picture.

They look like a bleached out Red People Eater.
Check the link above for pictures of a ton of "named" zoa/palys.

They are "monster lips" a rpe look-a-like. I picked up a colony thinking the exact same thing..A steal. These are not on Zoa-aid.lol

Right before they started fading. They came from under T-5's but I don't know the wattage. You can see a couple still purple. Now they are almost a clearish brown with a green mouth.

Most definately RPE's bleached out. Mine did the same thing under 250 watt 10k's. I have now moved them into a nano with pc's.

Have to remember PPE's have the green skirt. :)

i just got them the other day, so maybe they'll brighten up with more vibrate colors. i got them on the sandbed under 150w 14K MH and PCs.

either way, im happy with them as long as they don't bleach out anymore. is there any supplements i can add to help???

thanks!
