i got this frag from a fellow reefer who was never able to color it up. i am running a 6 bulb tek and would like some suggestions on placement, high or low. right now its about 4" from top of water and about 10" or so from the light and hasn't regained much blue. any ideas would be great. oh and there is moderate flow where its at now. thanks

light intensity = 1/the square of the distance

skipping the math :D, if you can cut the distance to the lights in half, you will quadruple the light intensity. so if you can somehow get the coral and bulbs closer together, any amount will help.

also, it does take some time to change colors sometimes. maybe weeks or a month, so if you just got it a couple days ago, sit tight for a while yet. Especially if it looks good and healthy.

I have mine about a 6" from the bottom of my 75G and it grows and colors very well. Although, I am using 175W MH, not T5, so, n ot sure about the difference in PAR, placement.

im sure the t-5s are probably higher in par that 175, thats what i was running b4 i switched, i could be wrong though. im going to move it down and see what happens. blue spectrums penetrate lower in the water as it is so maybe ur on to something.

Might be worth mentioning; I also run 4x 65W PC Bulbs, as well as 2 x 110W VHO's. Also, my 175's are Iwasaki 15K's(rival PAR of soem 250's)
