I've done some research but I still get micro-bubbles from the refugium. the bulkhead drain on the refugium is about five inches higher than the water level in the display tank and about six inches to the side of the display tank. I've tried different ideas but still no success. Cany anyone help - pictures would be appreciated. Thanks.

So your fuge dumps into the display and you're getting microbubbles in the display as a result. Right?

A five inch drop can produce a significant amount of microbubbles.

1)Can you lower it to make <2" drop?
2)Create a bubble tower. No pretty but it will work.
3)Angle the pipe exit so that the water exits horizontally. The microbubbles might stay near and disspate at the surface. If the exit is aimed down the microbubbles take the plunge and then get kicked around in the flow patterns of the display water.
