I currentley have 30" 65w 10k/actinic combo light on my 29g tank. I have l/r w/ mushrooms, toadstool, anthelia for corals and they seem to be doing real good under these lights. My light rests on top of my tank w/ no legs.

I just switched my glass top for eggcrate last week & noticed a lot more evaporation than before. I assume the glass top kept the evaporation down some?

Should my lights be raised off the tank w/ legs? Would it help w/ evaporation? Also I was thinking of upgrading to the coralife 130w unit w/ 2 lunar lights that comes w/ legs that will raise it off the tank.

Since the corals are doing ok I'M not sure if I should switch or not, any thoughts?

Thanks

i assume the lights are only fluorescents? if so, then you don't need to move them at all

They are power compacts.

howabout:

IF the lights are only flourescents, then you don't have to move them at all.

Yes, I only have powercompacts, no metal halides, so I guess I can leave them right where they are at.

also, that glass top was easily costing you 20%+ light loss.
better off without it.
