Skimmer Stink....

How does everyone keep their skimmers from stinking up their house? I can clean mine out and within hours, or a day it is stinking up the whole place!!! Seems worse now that I installed a 6" fan near the sump. I can't continue walking into a massive fart odor everyday. Any kind of deodorizer that can be put in the cup or collection container?

Run activated carbon. It works great.

If your cup vents through the top then a small container on top with the carbon inside should take care of the odor. If you use a waste container then you have to filter the air that comes from it. Either way, the carbon acts to absorb the odors. I have not tried placing the carbon directly in the cup but I don't think that would work very well.

Ok, that makes sense, thank you........... looks like another modification on the way to add some carbon. That is unless anyone else has any other ideas?

In order to get rid of the fart smell, you have to treat it like a fart; I'd blame the dog. You could also blame your significant other (say if you should not own a dog.) Doesn't do much to get rid of the smell, but could provide tons of laughs!!
