Seems all winter you've had the Marshall Islands CN-66284 type.

Will you be having the:

CN-66271 SW - Flame Angelfish (Tahiti)

CN-80449 SW - Flame Angelfish (Cook Islands)

CN-66258 SW - Flame Angelfish (Christmas Island)

items soon? Yes I know shipments vary but it doesnt seem you've had much change on the location for several months.

MimicTang,

Thank you for your questions on our beautiful Flame Angelfish. There are slight differences in both coloration and markings of the species based on the location of collections. The Flame Angels from Tahiti are rarely collected and are blood red, and contain very little to no yellow coloration. Both the Marshall and Christmas Island Flame Angels are from the Central Pacific. The Marshall Island is redder in coloration with thicker black bars running vertically down the body. The Christmas Flame Angels are normally red/orange coloration with thin black bars running vertically down the body. These color descriptions are a general guideline, and please expect variation among each fish.

We have updated our site today to more accurately reflect our Flame Angel offerings.

The price differences between the varieties would be reflected by the difference in collection, transportation and importation expenses.

So you've lumped all but the tahiti together now?

MimicTang,

Thank you for your reply. We have combined Flame Angels from Christmas and Marshall Islands, as this is the only way we can purchase them now. We have recently found that the Cook Flame Angels are not collected any longer and the Tahitian ones are rare.

MimicTang,

Centropyge loriculous are very abundant in the Cooks. There is only one collection station that ships with any regularity, and they prefer not to target this species any longer for collection and export. Cirrhilabrus scottorum, Pseudanthias ventralis, and a few other key species are focused on these days.

Happy Reefing!
