I have seen the clarion angel in books before and fell in love with that fish ever since. Too bad it is on lock down for who knows how long. I have seen some for sale online, but with a price tag around $2,500!!!!! So I keep dreaming. The other fish out of the cortez sea that is available is the king as well all know. But I have never seen a hybrid of a clarion and a king until now.

I brought that post back from the dead after my brother actually got the search to work. Since that is technically not a clarion, it is not on the list of fish of restricted! Anyone have any info on that hybrid or if clarion's are ever going to be for sale again? At an affordable price >1,000? I am about to take a secret trip out there and go "collecting" haha, anyone with me? I really just love that fish and hate how it is so rare! But any info on either fish would be nice if anyone knows?

I'd love to have more info myself. Clarions are awesome fish. I bought my passer, which is by far my favorite fish, because you simply can't get a clarion. Anyone else have info on this hybrid???

I thought it would have spiked more interest then this. No offense Osmotic Shock. I too would like more info on the clarion and the hybrid. Maybe if we can't get the clarion, the hybrid may be within our grasp.

the problem is, i think, that many people are interested (i konw i am!) but don't know anything about it and have nothing to contribute. like me.

from what i understand, the clarion isnt restricted as a species, but collection in the waters it inhabits is whats restricted. i could be wrong about that tho... anyone know for sure?

i really, really want this angel. by far my favorite (hence ny screenname). id almost be willing to pay a grand for one, but 2+ is too much

Well isn't the king and cortez from the same area? Close enough. I thought they are all out of the cortez sea. I know the clarion is only located in one spot usually, maybe that area is banned. But the king and cortez seem readily available. There has to be someone out there with more info! Or anyone have one they want to sell?

clarion's are only around one spot/island. There are tons of 'em there, but those waters are restricted. Passers and cortez angels have a much wider range. There was an illegal shipment a while back (more than a year ago now I think) and those angels by and large died

I know there was a shipment of clarion's sent over here labed as "passers". I don't know how you can kill a clarion! They are supposed to be one of the hardiest fish! I wish they would send more over here. Even a hyrbid, since that is technically not banned.

Famous for being very, very hardy as a generality.

Otherwise standard holocanthus type angel.
