I have a friend who has a large amount of hair algae in his tank. What is the best way to get rid of it?
Thanks

pull as much of it out as you can, then leave the lights out in the tank for 3-5 days. it should all be gone. i've heard of people doing this on purpose but i did this by accident and it worked well
Stop using flake/pellet food, run GFO in a media filter/reactor, rinse all frozen food before feeding, regular water changes, grow cheato in fuge, skim wetter, better husbandry & wait.

Start with fuge and go from there. Need to grow algae somewhere besides main tank.

Pull out as much as possible and start doing some aggresive water changes. Get to the source of the problem. What are the nitrates and phosphate levels?
